I worked at Tower Records from Winter of 1995 until the afternoon I locked the doors at Tower Records Store #142, Northridge,CA. I still have the keys for that store. When I started, I already had an unhealthy obsession with music and movies. Over the years, as I worked with people with taste far different than mine, I have been introduced to music, movies, art, books, and concepts that I might not have found on my own. I am indebted to Tower Records for giving this outsider a home with other freaks and indebted to Russ Solomon for making the place where I would spend what little money I had on tapes and VHS’s before I even worked there.
You can’t explain to people what this kind of environment can do for people like me. It just doesn’t compute to most people I know now that there was ever even a need for a place like Tower Records.
I wish all the best to the filmmakers and hope that other people help to get this story told. Help if you can, please.
